OSTEOPATHY
Osteopathy is a holistic, hands-on manual therapy used to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

It recognises the significant relationship between the structure of the body and the way it functions as a whole- focusing on the entire body, not just the symptomatic area.

With a wide variety of personalised techniques, we aim to restore balance, mobility, and optimal function.

The goal is not only to relieve symptoms, but to identify and address the underlying cause to help prevent recurrence.

What to expect at your appointment
Initial Consultation:
At your initial appointment, your osteopath will take a full case history and thorough medical history.
Please bring:
-
Any relevant X-ray or scan reports
-
Comfortable clothing or appropriate undergarments, depending on the area being treated
Assessment and Treatment:
Following a detailed osteopathic examination and assessment of posture and movement, your osteopath may use a combination of techniques including:
-
Soft tissue massage
-
Joint mobilisation
-
Safe joint manipulation (with your consent)
-
Stretching techniques
Each treatment is tailored to the individual.
Osteopathy takes a whole-body approach to treatment. Your osteopath may assess areas beyond the site of pain.
For example, if you present with knee pain, your treatment may also involve assessment of your feet, pelvis and lower back to address contributing factors.
Ongoing Care:
To support recovery and help prevent recurrence, your osteopath may provide:
-
Individualised exercises and stretches
-
Postural advice
-
Lifestyle recommendations
